Kool Artists: No1Else
Biografie
No1Else is a Franco-British producer, whose tunes are obviously inspired by early and 90′s video games, the mid-80′s new age scene, Giorgio Moroder’s space tunes and of course the whole “french touch”.
He started producing music a couple years ago but really got “serious” about It last year with the “No1Else” project, built up like a meltin-pot of all his music tastes.
So far, he has produced a solid number of tracks and done several remixes for the likes of quite a few artists (Mille, Cécile, Digitalism among others).
His debut E.P just got out and the 2nd one’s on Its way (on a different label).
Hopefully, his live-act should be ready soon enough to start touring a little..
Well, stay tuned cause there’s a lot more to come. No1Else’s looking forward to make you dance over the next years!

Interview
What is Kool to you?
I believe It’s all about perception, you can be cool to some people and uncool to others. Being cool is living the life you want, never caring about what people might say. You’re cool if you’re happy with what you do.. Be yourself.
What is the meaning of “French Touch” for you?
A certain idea of “house music” and a time when everything seemed possible as almost “nothing” had been done yet..I think guys like the Dafts or Alan Braxe really understood that at the time, that’s one of the reasons they’re so respected right now.
You’re actually very young still (21 I believe), how did you come involved with the DJ/producing?
Haha, I wish I was still that young..Unfortunately, I’m a bit older now (23). 21 is the age I really got “serious” about electronic music, right after a friend of mine introduced me to the fascinating world of softwares and keyboards.
Do you think you can compete with all the artist coming from Paris and the rest of France?
You tell me! I hope so.. But I don’t really want to compete with them, I just want to find a little space..
What can you tell us about your EP release?
Well, It’s a 3-Track E.P, built like a musical trip with a lot of synths and breaks, changing patterns and heavy kicks. The “departure” of an adventure..
My 2nd E.P is due to out quite soon, I’ll let you know about that for sure.
Your track “Cocaïno Combo” has, just like the title says, a real power and it’s a wicked track. Did you experience any cocaïne for getting inspiration to make this track? Something else? What’s your idea behind this track?
Thanks! “Cocaïno Combo” is a name I found afterwards, cause I thought of it as a “dangerous” track that will hopefully make you move and sweat, just like cocaine..But I don’t do hard drugs, just regular ones (haha, which ones…?)
What music (artists) inspires you the most?
Lately, I would have to say Justice (I was stunned when I first heard Waters of Nazareth), Boys Noize and Danger.
And obviously legends like Daft Punk, Vitalic, the Chemical Brothers..
Is it Electro 24/7 for you?
I’d love that but I gotta work, like everyone else..I’m hoping to end my studies next year, in political science..Absolutely no link with electronic music, a shame..
Do you have any goal with your music? Some message you want to spread?
Not especially, if there’s a message, it would be about making people smile, dance and enjoy.
Are you interested in doing live shows? Why (not)?
Sure, I’ve already started working on a live-act, which should be ready by the end of the year..Right now, I’m just djiing, but I try to include some of my tracks in my sets as much as possible, just to get those goosebumps seeing the crowd going crazy on your sound. The feeling is just amazing!
Do you play any instruments too? Does it help you with producing?
Nope. I’m kind of a “modern” artist, gifted with sampling and softwares technics, but quite lame at regular instruments..Ho no wait, that’s not true, I can play the flute! Dope
Do you have any artist signature? A particular sound/effect that you use?
Sidechain, sidechain and sidechain! No, more seriously, I try to surprise the audience with unexpected breaks and changes of melody. I like to have different vibes in one track.
Can we expect some exciting stuff this year? What are your plans?
Obviously some new material, a live-act, some gigs (perhaps in Holland, who knows..), a new E.P and a few interesting collaborations..Stay tuned!
Any more you’d like to share with us?
I hope you enjoy reading this interview as much as I enjoyed doing It.
And remember, be yourself, be like no one else…
