It’s been a while since we received some new stuff from the Bloody Beetroots, after announcing they would do a new tour called “The Church of Noise-tour” we haven’t see really new things. The concept was to create a new act, strongly influenced by rock, punk and electro. With his friend and companion Dennis Lyxzén of the Swedish punk band Refused, which he allready remixed last year with the track New Noise.
In an interview with Belgian Blog Fuzz magazine Bob describes The Church of Noise as following: “It exists out of many things, but mainly a new movement in music industry that is created by Denis Lyxzén and myself. It’s also the name of the New Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 live experience. It’ll be about music, lifestyle and revolution. We try to create an alternative for the current system we live in”

In the teaser of Church of Noise which was shared a few weeks ago they already gave us the following message:
This is an attempt to break the rules.

To free our minds, to make every minute count,

to combat greed and create our own world.

I want sweat, passion and love.

I want creativity for its own sake, not just to make money.

I want energy, movement and riot, not slaves.

Anything is possible, don’t believe in social classes.

There are no such things.

This is an attempt to fill the void,

to gather radical ideas and beautiful minds.

I want a cure, I want the revolution.

Bob Rifo kept us curious by updating his facebook once in a while with some cryptical posts. Then last sunday they posted 15.11.11 the date Church of Noise would be released and guess what day it is today? Yeah the fifteenth of November. And we’d love to here by share their new track called Church of Noise with you guys

So guys, what you think of the new track? We love it! Trashbags already said on Facebook they don’t really know what to think and the there is actually no more electro in it, what we sure can not deny, though we would very like to here your opinion about it.

In 2011 two cyborg convicts escaped from the planet venus. In an attempt of loosing their tail they crashed on a distant planet. This planet was Earth.
Their ship was destroyed, the only thing working was their radio transmitter, but they couldn’t call for help. Instead they tuned into a radiochannel called Sexy Riffz FM and this is where the Cyborgs fell in love with Heavy Metal music, and instead of fixing their ship they started recreating that type of music with their space technology.
But dangerous events occurs when human metalheads wants them dead.
but…you can’t kill, what has no life.
This is how Antichrist describe their self. So we have two crazy strange creatures producing music, sounds interesting. Let’s see the interview

Yo guys, what up?
Nothing much, doing this interview it seems.

Could you introduce yourself to the Dutch folks?
Hi dutch folk, we are Antichrist and we are here to raise the dead and kill them again!

So you’re from outer space? What is it like?
Cold and silent

Whats with the name?
We wanted a name that sounded metal, and Antichrist was just what we were looking for.
Even tho we get a lot of christians bombarding our Facebook page with stupid stuff about “jesus is all, remove your sins”
well… that is the price we have to pay we guess.

Why do you perform with the skull-masks, is there a specific reason for?
Earth is not ready to see what is hiding under those masks.

You guys say that one of your influences we’re Heavy Metal we hear also lots of Dubstep and electro, are you trying to combine those specific genres or is that coincidence?
It’s a coincidence, our space technology is much more different than your electric guitars and acoustic drums.

You’ve remixed F.O.O.L., Daft Punk, Ze! are there any other remixes we can expect?
We are doing a remix for a band called The Thief soon as we get the stems.
It’s a cool band from Norway you should check them out.

When will you release you’re debut ep?
We were going to release it this month but with some Beatport issues we had to postpone the EP.
it will be released on MMAN Recordings as soon as possible!
It will be called Night EP

Which artists we’re your influences and who are your influences?
Hard question since we are influenced by a lot, but i think we are gonna go with Whitesnake and Van Halen.
<param name="allowscriptaccess"

What was the most crazy gig you guys had till now?
At a place in Oslo called Fisk og Vilt, it was crazy!
The crowd almost tore down the place.

Wich DJ would like to play back to back with?
F.O.O.L, Alienhearts and DJ Mehdi

Do you think Blogs and websites play a big role in today’s music scene?
Yes

Any cool (secret) to share with us?
We love chocolate milk and video games.

As we’re named The Kool Kids, could you tell us why you are cool?
We aren’t

Don’t forget to check them out on Facebook and Soundcloud, their single “The leak” is a free download on their Facebook

With already two EP’s and even working on his third EP we would like you to introduce Autolaser!
Autolaser is a dramatic electro dubstepish DJ from Norway, a unique sound which is hard to describe as said you hear filthy electro drops to crazy dubstep wobbles, everything fits. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 his first EP’s got lots of good feedback and he was been reviewed by several big blogs. Now it’s our turn to interview the man behind Autolaser.

Lets start with the introducing part, who are you?
My name is Kent Tonning and I’m from Norway.

How is the music (electro) scene in Norway?
It’s getting better now, the Norwegian music scene is very slow with genres. Dubstep was getting very popular here last year, haha. It’s getting really good now, people are crazy at shows!

What sort of music do you produce?
I really dont know yet, I don’t care what kind of genre I produce actually. When I’m in my studio I just do what I want, and I love lots of dfferent genres, so I guess you could say it’s a controlled mess, haha.

Seeing your photos and artwork but also listening your tracks, you remind me of Danger, has he been an inspiration for you?
Nah, I dont know. I love Danger and I got huge respect for Franck. Of course has he been an inspiration to me, it’s great to know that there are more artist who act different than the others.

The performance you give the audience exists of a sick set and behind you an visual show, do you make it all by yourself?
Thank you! No, I got a talented friend whos controlling the visuals. He syncs my bpm while I’m playing and he fucks up the visuals with loops and crazy effects. I’ve just decided the clips.

I hear in lots of your track Dubstep and electro sounds, would you compare yourself with DJs such as Zedd?
Nah I dont know, maybe from the musical background. We both have played in metal band, haha.

On your Facebook we see you’re at the moment at Thaf Records, are there any collaborations to expect with fellow Thaf family members?
Nope, I would love to do it but I have so much going on right now.

What is your current status?
Huge planning shows, remixing and doing the Chapter 3 EP.

Any plans to play abroad? The Netherlands?
Im getting ready for some shows outside of Norway. I would love to play in Netherland, I love that country!

You’ll be supporting Mord Fustang next week, how’s that for you?
Its great, I’ve never played with huge artist like him before. So I’m looking forward for that!

Can you name is some artists you would like to play with?
Hmm, Daft Punk of course, and Le Castle Vania would be awesome.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Peace on earth! And let all rainforests stay free!

Dubstep or D’nB
Drumstep? I mean I love the Dutch D’nB and I’ve been a huge fan of Black Sun Empire.

Danger or Kavinsky
I love them both, but I love Danger because of his talented way in producing.

Are there any artists we should keep an eye on?
Yeah, Tony Anthems and my bro Blastoise.

As our philosophy is ‘We’re Kool, are you?’ Can you tell me why you are kool?
Because I got superman panties and I rent dogs. True story!
And I love The KoolKids and The Netherlands<3

We contacted one of the most famous and true Electro artists to see what he’s up to. @Sick Boy, known for his various parties throughout the country and for lots of underground releases kindly answered our questions below.

Interview

First of all, how are you?
Doing pretty good sir, hope you are too.

You’re a very versatile guy when it comes to music styles. Does this also reflect for Sick Boy the artist?
I try that to be as much as possible of course. Trying to have no limitations and I do hope people can hear that. I did a track with Bryan Black of @Motor/@Black Asteroid called “Extra Ordinary Speed” which will be released somewhere soon which is pretty much a Techno/Industrial stomper. Im releasing an EP soon with Eric Sharp which is Called “Sharp as a knife” which takes part of our styles turning it into a mix of dutch house and big bass percussion which allready got support by @Drop the lime. And there will be a re-release of “Bang your head” which is a full on electrobanger. We just shot a video for that track which will be online at the end of October. I hope Youtube lets it stay cause its pretty messed up story wise. EP includes remixes by @Clockwork, @Dirty Disco Youth and others. Lately I’ve been getting into more Classical music so you can definitely expect some influences of that in my new tracks. I do bootlegs sometimes that are totally different than my other Sick Boy material just check out my Threedaysgrace remix.

Lately I’ve been getting into more Classical music

You hosted some music events a while ago like Poptrash, Hard and Legacy Kids Club. Do you have any plans for a new one in the future?
Right now me and Amsterdam’s Disco king @Quinten 909 are hosting a new party called Clap. We did it twice at Canvas and those were pretty successful. We have to change location ’cause Canvas is going to focus their music towards more traditional music which is cool and I thank them for those nights. I’m also working on another concept but I can’t really say anything about it yet. Let’s just say if everything turns out right it could get huge. Im not really going to do weekly or monthly parties anymore ’cause I simply do not have the time. I do hold fond memories to lots of the parties and I’m grateful I got the chance to do it. Without some of these people I couldn’t do what I do now.

I’m also working on another concept but I can’t really say anything about it yet

So you did a collab with Steve Aoki called “The Kids Will Have Their Say” for his upcoming album. What can you tell us about that?
It’s just one of these things that happen. I’ve known Steve for 5 years now. He played a party I did when he wasn’t known, we did some European shows together and we’ve always kept contact. I sent him a song I was still working on and he liked it so we decided to collaborate on it. We got Big John playing some guitar on it, who was the first guitar player of The Exploited and actually played a few shows with Nirvana. Then we got Erik, who played drums in this amazing punkband Die Kreuzen and it got mind-blowing. It’s heavy fucking punkrock and will blow your ears. Steve liked what we got so much he decided to put it on his new album which will come out around Christmas and will also include Travis Barker, Kid kudi, Weezer and others.

Steve liked what we got so much he decided to put it on his new album which will come out around Christmas

You recently joined Talpa Publishing? What does it mean? Anything special going on?
It pretty much means that they will handle publishing. Meaning they take care of royalties, get you in touch with other artists if they can and make sure Buma gives me what I deserve and other stuff. It’s pretty cool, this way I don’t have to take care of things like that myself and the fact they believe in me, while they do this for people like Tiësto and Fedde le Grand says something to me. I’m pretty honoured.

What still influences you the most in making music or your attitude towards life in general?
Good question. I dont want to sound corny or anything, but my look at life has changed alot in the last few years. I’ve been sober and clean for more than 4 years now and my view of life has changed dramatically. I really believe that if you want something you can get it. Better yet believing in the positivity of everything makes life so much more fun. You learn from everything that happens around you, better yet if you’re in a negative spot tell yourself you will learn from it and it will make you stronger than you were. I saw and read a book called “the secret” and that pretty much sums it up. The funny thing is it happened to me before I saw and read it. I woke up one morning and decided it was a beautiful day. To me there are no “but…” or “what if…” anymore, just what’s now. Needles to say my music will always be a part of where I am in life.

Is there an album in the making?
I do actually have an album done. No release plans as of yet though. We first want to put out some more EP’s so thats the focus point at this moment.

Final question; What makes you so Kool?
Hmmmm maybe the fact I can say with pure honesty that I don’t care about opinions. Everyone has them just like…..
Just like ZEDD is Porter Robinson a young refreshing electro/dubstep DJ who has toured together with Skrillex both of them learned a lot of the experience what we can hear in their latest productions.
In Augsut 17 Skrillex announced his new label OWSLA which would mainly release elctronic (including dubstep) music. The first releases would be from Bristol-based dubstep producer Koan Sound, singer/songwriter Alvin Risk, San Francisco based M Machine and electro-dubstep newcomer Porter Robinson.
We already mentioned Porter before in our article about ZEDD.

Porter Robinson is an 19 year old electro-dubstep from North Carolina, and has already remixes for Lady Gaga, Skrillex and performed with Moby, A-Trak, Skrillex, Deadmau5 and Afrojack. Skrillex saw soon enough potential in him and recruited him to his label. His sound is only to describe as Dubstep powered with Electro House. The ideal combination.

But now it’s time

Porter Robinson has just released his debut EP on OWSLA. As Skrillex got signed to Mau5trap records 5 years ago it’s now his turn to support artists by sign them to his label. It’s one of OWSLA first released EP’s.
Skrillex mentioned on his Facebook: “Feels amazing to do the same with somebody who I believe in so much. So PLEASE support Porter Robinson and buy his Spitfire EP that just came out today on my new label Owsla. Never been so proud in my life!”

You can listen the EP on his soundcloud:

Support him by buying his EP on Beatport and let’s get him into the charts as we did with Skrillex!

Today a great artist among us has passed away. Tunisian DJ and producer Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, better known as DJ Mehdi, has passed away during a party at his house in Paris when his roof collapsed. Mehdi died at age 34. Our condolences go out to everyone that has loved him and share this loss, especially Fafi, the Ed Banger crew, Riton and the other artists and people involved in the scene.

The first time I got in contact with DJ Mehdi was probably with the Signatune track, which of course got a lot of attention through the Thomas Bangalter (half of Daft Punk) Edit. I can also remember his set at Sonar 2007 quite well, which has been in my top list of mixes for a long time. Or perhaps it was his track “I am Somebody” featuring Chromeo which resembles DJ Mehdi most. Well, you were man, you were somebody. And you still are, as DJ Mehdi will not be forgotten for his tracks and of course also the collaboration with Riton as Carte Blanche, which made a stunning second EP release not so long ago.

Mehdi came from the Hip-hop, got in touch with Electro as he met friends like Daft Punk, Cassius and of course Busy P from Ed Banger Records. He had gotten a lot into the House genre lately and his mixes were getting better by the month. For those party moments, mixes, tracks and happy feelings, we thank Mehdi Favéris-Essadi.

Here you can download to the latest track and giveaway from Carte Blanche (Riton & DJ Mehdi), which was given away only yesterday:

Ok, so the track “Audio, Video, Disco” from the same-titled album by Justice apparently has been leaked. The album will be out on October 25th. Our opinion is: We quite like the track. The vocals are quite catchy, not in a cheesy way, the piano synths and bass synths are quite nice, though the tracks isn’t really exciting in a way like the “Cross” album and we would have expect more from the drums. What is your opinion?

UPDATE:

Here’s the official video!
