Perhaps you know the episodes of My Son The DJ, where Jägerland interviews DJ’s and their parents, about how they’ve turned their hobby into a living. Jägerland is back once again and this time with a special episode. No other than mr. Van Bellen himself had the honour to be headlining this episode of My Son The DJ.

This weekend it’s time for another Rauw party, or two if you want!

Tonight Rauw is kicking off in Amsterdam’s Trouw with Dan Beaumont (Jam Factory, London), Sandeman (Amsterdam), Job de Wit (22 Tracks, Amsterdam), Son of a Doorbitch, Joost van Bellen (Rauw, Amsterdam) and of course DJ Mehdi & Busy P (Ed Banger, Paris) as part of their “Let The Children Techno” tour.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Rauw will be at Utrecht’s Tivoli with RiptidE, Dan Beaumont, Krause (live), Joost van Bellen, DJ Mehdi & Busy P and if you buy a ticket to see Goose tomorrow night, you can stay for the Rauw party for free!

But that’s not all, because Rauw is planning a few parties in… Barcelona’s Razzmatazz! Rauw’s visits at the Razz will be titled “Plastic Dreams” and the first party will be on April 16th. So if you’re in that area, you’d better go and join the party! Headliners will be Disco dinosaurs Palmbonen, BEAR, RiptidE and of course Rauw head master Joost van Bellen.

Next to this Rauw is hosting a photo competition in collaboration with Lomography, where you can win a Sprocket Rocket camera and guestlists for any Rauw party of choice!

But we keep the best news for last, as Rauw is also having a grande DJ competition!
The competition is titled “Rauw Broedmachine” and you can enter by doing the following:
Send in a live mix done by you ranging from 20 to 30 minutes, which contains music that’s suitable for Rauw parties, add a photo and info about yourself, be an upcoming, unknown and underground artist and you might win yourself a place in the line-up of Rauw on May 13th or May 14th!

This weekend on February 11th and 12th you can once again club at Rauw in Amsterdam’s Trouw and Utrecht’s Tivoli. This month Rauw features Erol Alkan, MEN, Joost Van Bellen in Tivoli, adding Riptide, Wannebeastar and NT89 in Trouw.

Erol Alkan

This musical legendary creature joins the Rauw team for the fifth time already in Tivoli, and will perform in Trouw for the first time. When Erol was a little boy he played on the very first Rauw night, and ever since he’s an essential act in the line-ups. Because of his loyality to Rauw’s clubnight he will perform a special set, namely Disco 3000, which basically means all the best from todays uptempo (Nu-)Disco.

MEN and others

After the succes of MEN during the (Super)Rauweekender in 2010, this American band will play its brand new album this night. Two members from MEN once were in the legendary band “Le Tigre”, which is still reflecting their current works. MEN creates “political hipsterpop” with a bit of Indie Disco. The members als also known for their outstanding clothing. For example, icon JD Samson wears a “burning house” on the head once in a while. Of course Rauw headman and Disco Dinosaur Joost Van Bellen can’t be left unspoken for. He will play at both nights. In Trouw you can witness Dutch talent Riptide to end the show and upstairs in Trouw you are able to dance on the beats from Wannabeastar and NT89, if you still haven’t had enough yet.

Rauw will be leaving the Melkweg for a new venue in Amsterdam, which will be Trouw. But before the event does that, it shan’t be going without a good celebration of almost 3 years Rauw at the Melkweg venue. In collaboration with the English top agency Decked Out and Berlin-based record label Boysnoize Records, Rauw has created a massive line up that everyone wants to see for sure!

In the Max you will be able to witness Bart B More, known for his hit on the Boysnoize Records label “Brap!”. Next to that Housemeister will show his enfant terrible skills and of course you have Boys Noize, of whom we surely can expect an innovative, creative and surprising set. Djedjotronic will close the night at the Max room, who is the perfect act to book when you want a crossover between electro, techno and pure house music.

In the Oude Zaal you can enjoy yourself with some nice and warm vibes, with styles varying from cosmic, italo and indie disco. Host and big man Joost van Bellen will open the night with the nu-disco that now has become his second crush. Belgium duo Villa of the sensational record label Abracada are on the bound of a worldwide breakthrough, and you can see their show this night. After that you can experience the always terrific performing Aeroplane, of which Vito Aeroplane has just released the beautiful album We Can’t Fly. Tiger Sushi label boss Joakim will take us to the end of this night, which by then should be a big success.

If you start with the phrase “He’s Back”, you only have a few options to refer that sentence to. You can either refer to The Terminator, that hangover from last night’s party or you can refer to that one person who has the almighty ability to free your mind and lets you party all night. That’s right, I’m talking about Alex Ridha a.k.a. Boys Noize.

The rumour is true, Boys Noize is coming to town next weekend, May the 14th and 15th. Surely something you don’t want to miss. You might have never heard of him before or it might be the fifth time you’ve seen him. Point is, you can’t miss this one out!

When he was a little unknown DJ, he was already DJ’ing at Rauw in Club 11 and Tivoli. Today he’s one of the biggest names in the scene and it’s for a fact that no one can dislike this guy. His DJ sets are absolutely immense and they make you want to never stop partying.

He’s been a busy boy lately with the release of his second album “Power”, co-operations with his pal Erol Alkan and he just finished the new Chilly Gonzales album. It’s no wonder that he needed some time off and now that he had some time off, he’s ready to tour the world with his astonishing DJ sets again!

This time, next to host and resident DJ Joost Van Bellen, another guy from Boys Noize Records will be DJ’ing too! The Parisian Djedjotronic can be heard on both nights in Melkweg (Amsterdam) and Tivoli (Utrecht). The newest artist from Boys Noize Records has been acknowledged because of some big remixes and some dirty releases on the BNR label. He’s definitely good enough to check him out, and you can probably expect some hard and dirty Electro/tech-house music from his set.

Moreover, these two nights will have a very special surprise, and it will only be revealed for those who have been there! So make sure you don’t miss it! Next to this the Melkweg will have a new and exciting feature. The Oude Zaal will be turned into a lounge room by the name of The Korova Milk Bar Chill Out. 00Kaap will create an atmosphere like the movie A Clockwork Orange by showing the movie on multiple screens. While you be having a few cocktails, you can enjoy the sound of… non stop classical music! It certainly won’t disappoint you, because Von Rosenthal De La Vegaz – who has been touring with Vive La Fête – will be DJ’ing. Besides him, you can also enjoy the sound from Gluckenstuck & Glockenschpiel.

To make it short, it will be two nights will huge names, some secret names and boundaries are going to be broken! Make sure you don’t miss this out!

On Saturday the 8th of May there will be a wicked Jagerland party in the Puddingfabriek Groningen with Joost van Bellen (NL), Alan Braxe (France), Meneo (Spain, this is the naked dude with the Gameboy who performed at the Vice Night during the Eurosonic Festival) and Estaw (NL).

The most promosing artist of this night surely has to be Alan Braxe, founder of the Vulture Music record label and one of the most known French Touch artists, comparable with names like Thomas Bangalter (half Daft Punk), DJ Falcon and Fred Falke.

Vice Magazine is the media partner for the event and for a large part is responsible for handing out tickets. These tickets are free of charge, but are only to be obtained by subscribing via the following link:

What is even more fun than one night of Rauw-ishness? That’s right, THREE NIGHTS RAUW! That’s why the second weekend in April will be the called the RAUWEEKENDER (8th, 9th and 10th of April), which is already the fourth year in a row. It’s already common to be able to call it a super-tradition as you can expect great artists to perform this weekend. RAUW-chairman Joost van Bellen will be presenting three night containing live-acts and DJ’s who will push you to the boundaries of dirty dance, fatttt disco and electricity. New this year will be the RAUWEEKENDER AFTERPARTY.

RAUWEEKENDER
Thursday 8th of April, Tivoli De Helling (Utrecht)
AEROPLANE, RORY PHILLIPS, M.E.N. & SHOUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
The first night of the RAUWEEKENDER will have a great start with Aeroplane, the Belgian dj-duo that create magic out of nowhere and will let everybody on the dance floor shake its groove out. Cosmic Disco, Balkan, Psychedelic guitars – everything that makes you having a surreal and awesome experience. English lad Rory Philips – along with fancy headphones – has superbly pleased crowds for years in the London club Trash and is doing that very thing now at the follow-up Durrr. You can expect the biggest elektronica mixed with some ol’ raw sounds and effects! M.E.N. is a band/dj-collective from New York, coming from le Tigre, with some nice raggaehouse. Also make sure to take a look at their stage act! Shout Out Out Out Out consists of two drummers, four bassists, a sampler, eleven synthesizers and three vocoders. As they are describing it themselves: neurotic dance music!

On the second night of RAUWEEKENDER Joost van Bellen created… Mr. Oizo, the legend and French producer of the big hit Flat Beat, with which he created a new genre on his own. After that he has produced numerous of known tracks, of whom also tracks from Uffie, who is to be watched on the Saturday. Riva Starr is a dj-producer from Italy, who “fell in a gypsy bucket when he was a baby and apparently never got out”, creating as much balkan, folk en gypsy as possible. The in The Hague based dj-duo The Walk & Rogerseventytwo will also be playing, who both have a soft spot for the French sound from Daft Punk and… Mr. Oizo.

The third night of the RAUWEEKENDER is the most varied one, with for instance the great Belgian band Goose: rough rock ’n roll with electronic & eighties-influences. From Paris the American Uffie will be visiting us. A fierce lady who has found herself a crew at the Ed Banger-label. We will also be having a legend this night: Green Velvet; Kraftwerk and Prince melted in a single hipster-house pioneer. His country mate Harvard Bass has two faces: elegant minimal house on the one side and bad-ass ghetto grooves on the other side. RAUW-boss DJ Joost van Bellen will make this RAUWEEKENDER complete with finishing the third evening!
