Dashing disco and electro give the start for Spring in Paard van Troje

High Voltage is a new club night in The Hague that heads to disco, electro, cosmic and balearic. Specially for you High Voltage imports the biggest international artists within these genres to The Hague. Why? Because the international city of peace deserves a clubnight like this, and should be an important city when it comes to terms of going out and qualitative electronic music.

Last August you could witness the first sign of High Voltage, as the The Hague edition of Eastpak Happy New Year was hosted  by High Voltage in the Paard van Troje. For this first edition no other than Kavinsky, Breakbot, The Juan MacLean and Shook were invited, the first two hailing from France and the third one hailing from the United States. The room was packed and the crowd got more than enough Dutch donuts than it could eat. Also lots of fireworks was available, for which a lot of “Duindorpers” could envy on this artificial turn of the year. Rumour has it that Kavinsky still has a big ear damage because of this night.

But on March 19th the time’s there to celebrate (yeah, it’s a celebration to have such a lovely night in The Hague!) the second edition of High Voltage. This time with (inter)national Italo and Nu-Disco legends, as Aeroplane and I-F will be performing during this night!

Aeroplane is the artist name of Vito de Luca, who currently runs the presidency in the area of “Nu-Disco”. With his album “We Can’t Fly” he got a lot of great response in Europe, and he proved to be a quality producer and writer, next to the talent of DJ’ing. With “We Can’t Fly” and “Superstar” he got the exposure on MTV that this artist deserves.

I-F, also known as Interr-Ference, is a true pioneer on the area of Electro and Italo. With tracks like “Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass” he’s got a real classic on his record. Besides DJ, producer and label owner, I-F is also known as the founder of Intergalactic FM, the popular online radio station that reflects the best of Electro and Italo.

Resident DJ’s Compression en Listoman will be warming up and closing the night.

At the Effenaar in Eindhoven the artists of that night will be Baskerville, Henzel & Disco Nova (VAgE gASTEN), Vermin Twins and Style Beats.

The Melkweg in Amsterdam will have its own disco party with icons like
Greg Wilson, I-F, Tom Trago and live performances of The Benelux and
Alden Tyrell.

Sébastien Tellier is a modern day enigma. A hirsute lothario, conquering hearts with soulful music that brims with a seductive élan. When not composing in his apartment, the Parisian has been shacking up with artists of international repute. Previous bedfellows include Tony Allen, afrobeat pioneer, who lent his percussive talents to the emotive La Ritournelle and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (Daft Punk), who got behind the decks to produce his most recent album, Sexuality.

Two years after it’s release, Sexuality remains a very contemporary album. SebastiAn got the campaign underway with his version of ‘Sexual Sportswear’, a classic like most of his work. The highly acclaimed Aeroplane took things back to 1984 with a killer dancefloor cut of ‘Kilometer’. Kavinsky produced the only remix of his career to date in ‘Roche’ whilst Boys Noize crafted album finale L’Amour et La Violence” into a killer eurodance mix. A-Trak did it D-I-S-C-O, Hypnolove took the opportunity to realize a fantasy tribute to Rondo Veneziano (Tellier’s favourite remix), Moulinex gave birth to a massive bassline and Danger got pulses racing with a glitchy drawn-out electro masterpiece. Other gems from Midnight Juggernauts, Breakbot, Arpanet, Donovan complete the map.

The icing on the cake comes in the form of exclusive remixes commissioned by Record Makers from Kasper Winding, Lazyflow and UK dubstep hero, Floating Points.

Sébastien is to return to the studio this summer to record his fourth album, the subject matter remaining under wraps for now. Fans should also watch out for CASTRA, a two-headed secret side-project with an as-yet-unnamed big collaborator. Vettig & Morsig presents #30 – Spektral – Flashback by Vettig_en_Morsig

Here’s what Record Makers has to say about it:
The zombie is striking back! After months of studio work on his forthcoming album, he & Record Makers have decided to release ‘Nightcall’ as an apéritif. ‘Nightcall’ is the first song Kavinsky provides vocals for, a duet you might say, featuring the zombie and his girlfriend, a.k.a. Lovefoxxx from CSS!

The song was produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and mixed by SebastiAn. The remix of this song, by a mysterious Dustin Nguyen, is an outstanding pop song that everyone can enjoy.

On the other side, Kavinsky has produced the fantastic ‘Pacific Coast Highway’, in which we follow a ghost car on the highway. The remix job is by French avant-garde producer Jackson. His epic 9 minute long version is unmissable.

‘Nightcall’ is composed of 4 tracks, representing the sensual, epic and romantic French sound like never before.

Het verhaal gaat te ronde dat sommige Ed Banger Crew leden de V.I.P. ruimte niet binnen werden gelaten,
en er een misverstand was. Toen een uitsmijter van Cinespace de label vriend Kavinsky een duw gaf, werd het oorlog. Het werd een knokpartij tussen de Ed Banger crew leden en de uitsmijters van Cinespace.

Een paar mooie actie foto’s met boze gezichten van Kavinsky, Busy P, Thomas Bangalter ( De Daft Punk brother die op Pedro’s verjaardag een liveset gaf ZONDER helm) en So-Me.

Tijdens  het feest werd ook naar wat gezegd wordt een nieuwe track van SebastiAn gedraaid.
Gelukkig werd het gefilmd!

De set die Thomas Bangalter draaide bestond uit slechts 3 tracks; Daft Punk’s “Rollin’ And Scratchin’”, DJ Mehdi – Signatune (Thomas Bangalter Edit) en… Prince’s “Raspberry Beret”!
Men zegt dat ook Guy-Manuel (de andere helft van Daft Punk) aanwezig was, maar die houdt zich nog altijd mysterieus schuil tussen het gewone publiek.
