This Saturday, Dr. Lektroluv will be playing at PERRON in Rotterdam!
Nu Rocker (The Kool Kids) will be DJ’ing as well.

Dr. Lektroluv actually doesn’t need an introduction, but here goes:
Dr. Lektroluv is a Belgian electro DJ, who is best known for his typical green mask. The Dr. has several personalities. He emerged at the beginning of the 21st century, playing at the Body to Body parties at Culture Club in Gent.

He regularly releases compilations on the NEWS label, mixing classic electro-gems with some fresher releases.

This Friday Dicke Junge will host a Threshold Electro party at Den Bosch’ finest P79. This event’s headliner is no other than Ado.

The Scottish artist is one of the most talented rising stars in the Electro/Techno scene. His refreshing sound made him a signing at Fake Blood’s “Blood Music Recordings”. His productions find great support from: Boys Noize, Mr. Oizo, Zombie Nation, Clouds, Sound Of Stereo, Tiga etc, etc.

The Eleven
The Eleven is also a rising star, though be it from our own country. Kalok Yeung, from Utrecht, makes futuristic, dirty electro/techno that goes well for many labels and artists. Having releases on labels such as the British Southern Fried Rec. the future looks prosperous for this youngster.

Of course the host of the night will also be spinning the decks. As organiser Dicke Junge can show you what a night of Threshold Electro stands for.



Vinntek
The closing sets from Vinntek are raw, dirty and hard. Anyone who’s been to earlier editions know what this guy is capable of.

Prepare for some deep shit of the sergeant! A mixture of deep house, 2-step and techno is what the sergeant will be doing on March 30th!

Green Room has grown fast to become one of the most profounding club nights in Amsterdam. With Studio K being on of the most progressive clubs in the city, this edition promises to be one you can’t miss. Divided into two areas the resident VJ’s of Green Room (Lideborg and Aintsane) will, along with the DJ acts, create a lot of creativity and innovation. Headliner from SK3 is Hyperdub Records’ most admired Scratcha DVA. Next to him Halp, Valentijn and Green Room’s newest residents Lantei and Inuk will be performing.

In SK2 the progressive electro/techno sound will come to light as big stars Henzel & Disco Nova will be entertaining the night from the DJ booth. Also new resident duo Kristof and Cursed P will be be spinning behind the decks.

Green Room
The concept of Green Room has been inspired by club nights from the 80′s and is known for its very progressive electronic sound. Next to a lot of decoration, Green Room is a platform that exposes people to new music. There’s room for many music genres like: Glitch, Wonk, Electronica, Tectronic, Electro, Future Beat/Dub, Juke, House and many more. Green Room is a platform for new and especially progressive talent in the electronic music scene.

Justice are, after Daft Punk, one of the most influential acts in Electro. It all started in 2003, in Paris…

Justice first produced tracks together for Musclorvision’s “Hits Up To You,” a concept compilation where tracks were designed to sound like they were meant for the Eurovision song contest. The compilation included two of their songs, and a track by Gaspard Augé’s alter-ego Microloisir.

Breakthrough

Not long after that, Simian – which later became Simian Mobile Disco – created at remix contest on their song “Never be Alone”. It was created for a Paris college radio station’s remix contest and Xavier and Gaspard entered with the name “Justice“. It was aired, a big success and soon after group was signed to Ed Banger (who released it) and it became a hit in clubs and on the internet. After the original release of “We Are Your Friends” Justice worked on remixes for a number of French groups (Vicarious Bliss, Scenario Rock, and Gambit) as well as for larger mainstream acts such as Britney Spears, N.E.R.D., Fatboy Slim, and Daft Punk. Justice’s first solo single, “Waters of Nazareth”, was released on Ed Banger Records in September 2005, which we consider it being amongst one of the best Electro tracks every made. The duo’s remix work continued, as they turned in mixes for Franz Ferdinand, Mystery Jets, Soulwax, and Mr. Oizo.

Then “†” came. The debut album, which might be the best Electro album ever produced. It was released on Ed Banger Records on 12 June 2007. Almost every track featured on the album was a straight hit in its own way. “D.A.N.C.E.” became a hit worldwide, being placed as #4 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. “Stress” became a re-memorable track because of its frightning yet brilliant video clip. Justice uploaded their music video for “Stress” to YouTube on 1 May 2008, having had several TV stations boycott the video. The clip features a group of youths committing acts of vandalism and harassment, wearing jackets bearing the Justice cross on the back. Accused in some quarters of racism for its stereotypical depiction of youths of African descent (both black and North African) from Paris’ socially deprived banlieues, others saw the video as a critique of their portrayal in the French media. There are more great songs, like “Genesis”, “Waters of Nazareth”, “D.V.N.O.”, “Phanton Pt. II”. Almost every track is brilliant.

A Cross The Universe

In July 2008, Justice was revealed to have done a mix for the Dior Homme Summer 2009 Fashion Show, much like Daft Punk did for Louis Vuitton in 2007. The track, now known as “Planisphere”, was released in four parts on the band’s MySpace page, with an extra final cut that did not make it into the fashion show mix (known as “Planisphere IV”, or “Planisphere Final”). In November 2008 the DVD A Cross the Universe was released. It contained a documentary of the band’s tour through the US in 2008. It also contained a Live CD of their show in San Fransisco. In January 2009 French group Birdy Nam Nam released their album “Manual for Successful Rioting”, Justice produced the last song on the album “The Parachute Ending”. In April 2009 they released a remix for U2′s “Get On Your Boots”, and after they released a remix for Lenny Kravitz “Let Love Rule”, which was also also featured on Kanye West’s blog.

Audio Video Disco

On April 4th 2011 Justice released “Civilization”, the first single off their upcoming album “Audio Video Disco”. The song has also been featured as the soundtrack to a new Adidas campaign spearheaded by French director Romain Gavras, with whom Justice has worked in the past. On October 24th 2011, the second album was released. They described their album like “a progressive rock record, played by guys that don’t know how to play”. For this album, the duo played every instrument on their own and no samples were made. On 6 September 2011, a music video for the single “Audio Video Disco” was released. The video features Xavier and Gaspard in a studio setting, and details the lengthy, rock n’ roll style recording process that was experienced in making the single, and album. Within the clip various instruments are seen: an electric guitar, a piano, and a drum kit, standing as the quite literal symbols for the Justice progression into a more rocky, less electronic sound. The second album is quite different from the first one, but very unique. The Parisian duo has adopted the brash sounds of late-1970s progressive rock, like bands such as Queen, Led Zeppelin and Yes.

The crusade continues

Now Justice is on their second Live World Tour. Will it be as intense as their first one? Will the band continue leading the top of Electro music, creating a perfect collision between rock and dance? Tomorrow the band will be playing at Paradiso, Amsterdam, as part of their World Tour. The crusade continues…

Given that both artists have been pushing the boundaries of dance music in their respective careers to much critical and some commercial (remember Flat Eric?) acclaim, this new venture is a dream collaboration for devout electro-heads. Celebrated for the innovation in his eclectic remixes and heavy production style, Boys Noize has been clearing up awards in recent years – whilst since his initial mainstream exposure in 1999 Mr Oizo has shied away from the spotlight, courting a more niche audience with his experimentation in music and film with the Ed Banger crew.

Together their sound is extremely driven and high-octane as heard in their first track ‘Callgurls’, which premiered at the end of 2011. Here we premiere a mini-mix of their forthcoming EP before the release on Boysnoize Records out 6th February.

The Kool Kids Web Shop & Agency Launch Party

It’s been three years since The Kool Kids started as a blog, writing about the latest news and updates regarding Electro music, parties and lifestyle. Since the beginning they’re trying to set up an Electro scene in The Netherlands, and now they’re taking it to the next level. From now on The Kool Kids will have the following features:

HAEZER (South Africa)
HAEZER is one of the biggest artists from South Africa. Currently doing a Europe Tour, this punk-ass Electro artist has some of the greatest productions.

Henzel & Disco Nova (VAgE gASTEN)
Very known throughout The Netherlands. You might know these guys from the Electro section of 22tracks.nl, but perhaps also from their own Electro/Techno party Rara Aves in Amsterdam. Next to that these guys are part of the VAgE gASTEN collective, which has its own stages at festivals such as Mysteryland, Solar Weekend and more!

Bazen & Helden (The Kool Kids)
Bazen & Helden, part of The Kool Kids agency, are a music formation hailing from The Hague in the Netherlands. Their name translates to “Bosses & Heroes”, producing hard-as-diamond electro and techno music and obliterating genre limitations with sounds that redefine “oh my god”. Having already played in Ireland, but also known from -BLACKOUT- at VUIG.

Nu Rocker (The Kool Kids)
One half of The Kool Kids. You can definitely expect some good music at the end of the night! Starting off with some good Electro, followed by loud and true Techno, and also playing the best Dubstep beats from this moment!
